When two individuals start living together for the first time in their lives, adjustments are bound to happen. Though there are mental, emotional, and physical aspects of this, let us focus on the more visible part and that is having their own spaces in their new home without losing the individuality of the other. Let us tackle three major spaces where ideas, colors, and choice of furniture may clash.
First is the living room where friends and family will be welcomed. Women in general love colors and having a guy in the house should not mean that their color choices would be limited. The husband should not be scared of adding colors into the house. A dark sofa may be complemented with throw pillows bursting with colors. SM Home houses pillows of different designs such as katsa, canvass, even pillows showcasing animals! A wall may be adorned with frames that showcase wedding or family photos. Wall art of different sizes may also be added among the frames or choose magnetic memo boards for dual purpose. SM home will not disappoint when it comes to wall décor choices. Simple girly accents such as tea lights or artificial plants won’t take away the manliness of a house so it’s nice to combine these items. They may be arranged in a display cabinet along with the husband’s plaques or golf tournament trophies for example. Of course, you can never go wrong with a lush rug to highlight a certain area.
The second major area is the bedroom. Though the master’s bedroom is a very private area, bringing a touch of each other’s personality in this area is possible. The hubby and the wifey may choose different side lamps to complement their personality and needs. If the color of the paint of the room is bright, a darker bed sheet can become the focus of the room. On other days, like during summer, a brighter hue is also nice as it’s more pleasing and cooler to the eyes. Who doesn’t want a comfortable sleep at night, right? SM Home can surely cater to your desire of nice, quality linens. Storage boxes may also serve as décor with a purpose. They come in soft bins, wooden chests, plastic storage boxes, as well as leather ones. It’s a nice idea to hide unnecessary stuff inside nice boxes that you can display as well. It will be easier to locate items once you need them. No need to go to the storage area or through a dusty cabinet and rummage through all the junk and stuff. Also, since the bedroom is where the couple may spend most of their time to relax, it has become a fad nowadays to have an LED TV with quality speakers in the room. Whether for movies or music, it’s nice to have all these arranged in a shelf, the wires and cables properly hidden so it’s easier on the eyes. The Flam TV stand provides extra storage, maybe for the TV remote or DVDs, while the Sigma TV rack has an industrial feel to it. The cover of the Miley accent chair in solid color is fit for the man of the house while the Aniston Riston accent chair is also a break from the usual monotonous colors. A nice couch may also be added if the space will allow so relaxation is a notch higher. The wife may put candles or aroma oils in the room. Different scents may be used one at a time depending on the couple’s mood.
The bathroom is the last major area where the couple can exhibit their personalities. It may be a big or an average one but spending time inside the bathroom can be pleasurable as well. Adorn the bathroom with small wall art or wallpaper as accent. Light candles in a small and safe corner while taking a bath. Hanging a shower curtain serves a purpose plus style, too. A bathroom rug and a vanity cabinet can be the neutral accessories there. The Robert Collection of bathroom accessories feature different colors and styles so there’s so many options for the couple. Add a touch of color with towels and bath accessories.
There is so much to be excited about in terms of decorating your very first home. The spouse just needs to be open to suggestions and collaboration. A home is a showcase of two different personalities and it is nice to discover one’s self or your partner’s taste while you build and fill it together.
