Christmas Eve marks one of the most significant days of the season—a time to celebrate the dawning of the 25th and a time to bond with loved ones. Get ready for the Noche Buena by setting the mood for this extra special gathering.
Create an Inviting Tablescape
The centerpiece of the Noche Buena has always been the delectable food. Take things a step further by regaling the dining table with holiday-worthy linens, tableware, and décor. Combine woven placemats in festive colors. Don’t be limited to just red and green. Present main dishes in ceramic serve ware in a classic white. The stark contrast will allow colorful food to stand out. For guest plates, beautiful bone china dishes paired with sleek, silver flatware lend simple elegance. Or go ahead, and pick plates and bowls in a fun design. As for seating, you can easily dress up dining chairs with seat covers for an instant makeover. Just make sure the colors complement your tablescape.
Finally, add more character to your tablescape with floral arrangements, potted plants and candles. Use a combination of vases, pots, and candlesticks in varying heights to create a nice balance.
Liven up Sitting Areas
Next to the dining area, the living area is another important gathering point for guests. After all, this is where guests sit down to chat while waiting for the feast to be served. Change your usual pillowcases into something more festive. Instead of matching all your pillows, pick solid colors and prints that complement each other.
If you don’t know where to start, begin by choosing an eye-catching print then look for a pillowcase that picks up one of the colors in that print. For example, pair striped moss green and teal with a green canvas pillowcase.
Don’t forget the coffee table as well! Echo the dining area, with vases, floral arrangements or candles in a similar design or within the same color family.
Maintain a Celebratory Mood
Last but not the least, keep guests entertained by playing Holiday tunes in the background. Music is a surefire way to create a lively atmosphere. Simply create a playlist on your computer or portable music player. While they wait for the main meal, serve light snacks such as peanuts or chips, on appetizer plates or beautifully printed bowls. Lastly, don’t forget younger guests! Provide fun plushies in Santa or Snowman designs that they can play with.
At the end of the day (or evening), the spirit of the Noche Buena is all about good food, fun times, and great company!
