Make The Most Out of Every Corner of Your Home
February 15, 2017 | By Rochelle Rivera

Home is my sanctuary. This is where I get to be with my loved ones after a long day. This is where I feel safe, comfortable, and blissful when everywhere else seems chaotic. This is where I can be myself the most.

As moms, we play a very important role in housekeeping, more so in making our respective homes as “homey” as possible. We always make it a point that everything in our four-walled cocoon is in order and that the ambiance is kept private yet welcoming. After all, this is where our families build memories, and it is safe to say that what we make of our home is a statement of who we are. So, when others are invited in, our objective is to show them a hint of us before we can even touch base in conversations.

Let me share with you some tips on how we can put some personal touches in every corner of the house.

1. Make the center table deserving of attention

Fill the table with stuff that will catch interest. It could be a beguiling figurine or a uniquely designed vase full of gorgeous flowers. They can be scented candles, little frames, and photo albums. Find the display that will best describe you so that when people sit around it, it will already leave an impression. It’s a glimpse of your personality.

2. Walls can be your canvas

Paint a story on your walls. Our walls are filled with memories – photos of us. Some will put wallpapers on and others hand-paint theirs with what they find the loveliest view. I must say this part is really cool. Imagine how you can be boundless in drawing what you desire to see in your own abode. Your favorite color will give the right vibe. Staring at the walls can never be boring.

3. Keep it simple and interesting

You don’t want to overwhelm your house too much. So as much as you want to bring all of what you are into it, make sure it only shows enough to still make things stimulating. Do not clutter you tables, your walls, ceilings, and floors by overdoing it. Decide on how you would like to present yourself like choosing a theme for your home. You may change it, even often, and it can still be you. For example, if you are a summer person, then you can make a list of things or places associated to it – beaches, tropical fruits, sun, etc. From there you can picture how your home will look like. Then, you do the work.

4. Lights and shades to add some effects

Your finishing touches will define the final look you want. I love having great lighting in my own home. Lamp shades in the bedroom and in the living room are absolutely a must. The kitchen and dining area could also use some dramatic effect. It doesn’t have to be expensive for it to be beautiful. The positioning is the key. Put it in corners where you feel like it will give some warmth and personal touch. The shades will make the environment more alive and creative.

Now that you have an idea on how to personalize your home even better, the next thing to do is to find a place to get affordable and quality stuff. You don’t have to buy everything, you can be inventive and use what you already have at home. Sometimes it’s just a matter of organizing and fixing things. For the rest of what you need, SM Home definitely has it all.
