Bring home beach-inspired color to your home!
From the bedroom to the bathroom, the living area to the dining hall, sunny palettes can be adapted to any space in your home. While there is no need to paint your walls in bright yellows or indigos, you can certainly cop the look through furniture pieces, storage, dinnerware and other decorative elements. Bring the beach back to your home by trying the following combinations.
Dawn to Dusk. A combination of warm oranges, cool lilacs and blues makes for a colorful yet cozy effect. Try the look with your furniture pieces such as a deep purple three-seater, a rust accent chair, or even a blue sofa bed that allows you to sit back and relax as you would while watching the sun rise or set. You can also use framed art that combines these colors.
Day at the Beach. This vibrant marriage of primary colors—blue, red, and yellow—mimics the sea and a sunny day at your favorite beach. You can opt for one accent piece such as a red sofa or chair. Or add ocean-inspired elements such as a framed piece featuring seascapes or printed pillows featuring playful drawings of oceanic animals such as whales and turtles finished in vibrant colors like teal and hot pink.
Nautical. A classic combination of blue and white inspired by regattas, this palette is easy on the eyes. Clean white pieces such as a sofa or padded bed frame sets the stage for printed blue accents such as pillows, linens, and throws. This cool palette can also be translated into kitchen and dinnerware, such as a sky blue pot and pan set and plate sets that feature dainty prints in different shades of blue. You can also bring the nautical look to your bathroom. It’s as easy as combining blue and white bath and hand towels in your choice shade of blue from a deep azure to a light sky.
Sand. Finally, if you prefer a neutral but beach-inspired palette, look no further than the colors and textures of sand. Sand comes in various colors from stark white to a dark grey and even a light pink or black. You can’t go wrong with furniture pieces in warm beiges, creams, coal, and stone. Don’t stop with color. Rocks and shells provide not only visual interest but texture and color. Place handfuls of smooth rocks or shells of various sizes (picked from the beach of course) in a glass vase for a zen-like tabletop piece.
Be inspired by what you see at the beach, and translate this into your most relaxing and fun abode to date, in colors that speak to you.
